Breaking news: Manchester United coach Ralf Ragnick heaps praise on Baily and reveals his plans for him as he calls him a SPIDER-MAN
Eric Bailly's unconventional defending
against Young Boys had Manchester United
fans comparing the centre back to
Spiderman as supporters lavished
praise on his 'wild' technique.
Bailly, 27, has endured a frustrating
season at Old Trafford, with former boss
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reluctant to hand the
Ivorian a chance in defence, favouring Harry
Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane.
New interim boss Ralf Rangnick handed
Bailly a chance on Wednesday night as the
German made wholesale changes for the
club's dead rubber Champions League
match against their Swiss rivals.
And although United conceded just before
the half time break, Bailly impressed with
'wild', if unconventional, defending to keep
the visitors at bay at Old Trafford.
Bailly's swift reaction to a developing fast
break, in which he won back possession
before executing an unexpected spin, won
praise by fans on social media.
So too did his heroic block that denied the
Swiss side a second goal, turning the
ball over his own crossbar before again
dropping to the turf to swing his legs around
in a full 360-degree motion.
The two incidents left fans comparing
the United defender to Spiderman, lavishing
praise on his 'dramatic yet elegant' style.
